Monty Python have told fans that their upcoming gigs at London's O2 would almost certainly be the comedy group's last ever - and have also revealed a new track from an upcoming album re-release. Listen to 'The Silly Walks Song' below.
The iconic comedians will perform 10 nights at London's O2 this summer, but previous plans for Monty Python to take the show to other countries have since been shot down by a statement from organisers of the shows, who told fans in a statement: "Individual commitments to other projects over the next three years has made this impossible."
Python main-man Michael Palin spoke to Radio One's Greg James about the shows, confirming plans for their London appearances to be their last. "It'll probably be the last time we go on stage together again... until the next one. When we did our first tour we called it the First Farewell Tour, so you can't believe us at all.
"But seriously, there are no plans to do any more, we've all got other stuff to do. It'll be the last one for a very long time – probably 2050."
He added that the shows would be a test of the group, who are now all in their 70s, telling the presenter: "It'll be quite a test of us old geezers, but we'll have medical attention, doctors and nurses will be there."
"It'll be fun... We've selected the material we're going to use. A lot of the rest of the thing is going to be production: we've got dancers, we've got songs, things that have to take place while we're all off doing our changes. We're all playing about ten different characters, and it takes time to change when you're 73."
However, they will be leaving fans with a parting gift - a remastered and extended edition of their 1989 album, Monty Python Sings, which includes new track, 'The Silly Walks Song'. Listen to the track below.
