My Chemical Romance debut new material in London

My Chemical Romance made a dramatic return last night (Oct 23), debuting a clutch of songs from their new album in London.

The New Jersey-born rock stars unveiled their new style at Hammersmith Apollo, and singer Gerard Way debuted his new bright red hair, appearing as his new alias ‘Party Poison’. It was all a far cry from the military theatrics of their Black Parade era.

Opening the show with new single ‘Na Na Na’, they went on to preview three more new songs, the driving punk jam ‘Planetary (Go!)’, the anthemic ‘The Only Hope For Me Is You’, and the epic ‘The Kids From Yesterday’, which closed the show.

My Chemical Romance are preparing to release their fourth album ‘Danger Days: The True Lives Of The Fabulous Killjoys’ next month. These are their first shows since the departure of drummer Bob Bryar, although the band have yet to announce a permanent replacement.

Many of the audience, who Way had adopted as ‘Killjoys’, were dressed up in outfits inspired by the Mad Max style video to ‘Na Na Na’.
