As the wonderous 'Flakes' continues to burrow into your subconscious, Eel Pie Island's finest troubadours Mystery Jets are back with a charming tale of love and loss and a lot of searching in their first single proper - 'Young Love'.
Featuring the vocal talents of the hotly tipped Laura Marling, this is a song of two halves. A sparing between the male and female points of view of a one-night-stand and a series of miss-haps all set to a tune that will refuse to leave your head for days.
'Young' Love' is an example of Mystery Jets truly outdoing themselves as creators of perfect, harmony driven, edgy pop. Traditionally fronted by Blaine Harrison, this single displays the talents of other players having been written by William Rees (guitar) and Kai Fish (bass).
Stepping forward as a second lead vocalist for the band, Will's lyrics vividly supply the narrative as Laura Marling's alluring vocals perfectly complement with backing vocals that are playfully reminiscent of sixties doo-wop with a sardonic twist.
'Young Love' is a great taster for things to come from their eagerly awaited second album 'Twenty One' which sees Erol Alkan in the production seat – his first complete album. Due to arrive on the 24th March, 'Twenty One' will prove to be the prefect soundtrack as the spring sun begins to show itself again.
