The 30-year-old musician is best known for his smooth R&B hits and handsome looks, although he is also emerging as a top acting talent.
Ne-Yo appears in two films which are set for release next year – one is an action movie called Battle: Los Angeles, which also stars Aaron Eckhart, and the other being Red Tails, a movie documenting the first African-American pilots to fly in a combat squadron during World War II.
The modest singer/songwriter says although he’s very excited about his blossoming movie career, and is proud of his achievements, he hopes to improve his acting skills as he takes on more parts.
"I have a lot of growing to do as an actor," he told British newspaper The Independent.
Ne-Yo says he seeks inspiration from veteran Hollywood actors such as Academy Award-winner Denzel Washington and James Bond icon Sean Connery. The star admits he has a long way to go before he could even consider sharing screen-time with such talented thespians.
“I don't think I'm a bad actor, but I'm by no means worthy of being on the same screen as actors I look up to, such as Denzel Washington, Kevin Spacey or Sean Connery," he gushed.
