Hip-hop star Ne-Yo has been ordered to stand trial after backing out of a New Year's Eve performance at the last minute in Seattle on New Year's Eve, 2009.
Tickets sold for up to $1,275 for the event with fans flying in after paying airfares and hotel accommodation and the promoter claiming he was left with bills and a damaged reputation.
Promoter Wet Entertainment LLC is seeking $1 million in damages for the Ne-Yo no-show.
"Ne-Yo failed to appear at a New Year's Eve concert and no defense exists that would excuse his failure to appear," the lawsuit states, adding that Clark's and Wet Entertainment's "reputations in the music industry and entertainment community have been damaged."
Ne-Yo was to be paid $140,000 for his appearance. 1,500 tickets were sold for the event.
This isn't Ne-Yo's only impending trail. He is also facing another suit from March for a no-show twice in Atlanta.
