Neil Young cancels more shows

Neil Young and Crazy Horse have cancelled their four upcoming North American shows citing doctor's orders to guitarist Frank "Poncho" Sampedro.

Young issued a statement saying "[His] doctor has indicated that Sampedro's hand requires additional time to heal properly. We are sorry for any inconvenience this causes to our fans or the festivals where we were scheduled to appear. As you must be, we too are disappointed at this unfortunate turn of events."

Seven dates from their European tour were also cancelled after Sampedro injured his hand, although details have never been stated on the type or extent of the injury. Affected dates are at the Capitol Theater in Port Chester, NY, the Greenbelt Harvest Picnic in Dundas, ON, the Ottawa Folk Festival in Ottawa, ON and the Interlocken Folk Festival in Arlington, VA.

Young's upcoming dates are Live Aid in Saratoga Springs, NY (September 21) and the Bridge School Benefit in Mountain View, CA (October 26 and 27); however, these cancellations may put an end to the entity that was Neil Young and Crazy Horse. Sampedro said earlier this year that he felt this might be the swan song for the group.
