Neil Young to Be honoured by Recording Academy's Producers and Engineers

Neil Young will be honoured by the Recording Academy's Producers and Engineers wing at the seventh annual Grammy Week.

Young's ongoing work in ensuring quality sound and improving formats for audio will be saluted on Tuesday, January 21 at Village Studios in West Los Angeles. Among his innovations are the Blu-Ray release of Archives, Volume 1 1963-1972 and his latest foray into improving digital audio with the Pono standard.

Neil Portnow, President and CEO of the Recording Academy, said "The efforts of the P&E Wing continue to raise awareness about the importance of sound quality and the preservation and integrity of recorded music. This year, it is with great honor that we pay tribute to a musical icon who has been tireless in his own efforts to draw attention to the importance of hearing music as the artists who created it intended, and who has continually set precedents of excellence within the music community. The contributions of Neil Young are innumerable, as is his incomparable body of work, and we look forward to an unforgettable evening with this legendary artist."

Previous honorees of the Producers and Engineers are Chris Blackwell, T Bone Burnett, Tom Dowd, Ahmet and Nesuhi Ertegun, Jimmy Iovine, Quincy Jones, Arif Mardin, Al Schmitt, and Jerry Wexler.
