2013 will be the 30th anniversary for New Edition but they aren't waiting that long to celebrate. The original members of the group are ready to party throughout next year with a tour and possible new album.
The members, Bobby Brown, Ronnie DeVoe, Johnny Gill, Ralph Tresvant, Ricky Bell and Michael Bivins, already performed together at the 2011 Essence Fest but plan on more road work, including a big "blow out concert."
DeVoe told Billboard "2012 is going to be an incredible year for us. Of course, we want to get to the 40th and 50th, too, but we just feel like our road to the 30th is going to be special because all of these different things that are in front of us. It's just gonna be an incredible ride."
If an album comes about, it will be a first for the original members since 1996's Home Again. According to Bell (again, talking to Billboard), "There's definitely been discussion. We're on calls with each other weekly. Right now it's just about scheduling and timing and setting up who we'll be working with as far as producers and writers and locking down whatever the deal is -- whatever label it's going to be or if it's going to be independent."
Also under discussion is a new book about the group and a DVD of their planned big concert.
