The New Kids on the Block's just-released video for "Remix (I Like The)" is all about having a good time and letting your "inner goose" out for all the world to see.
For the house party-themed clip, the Boston fivesome enlisted the help of "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" actress Artemis Pebdani to play the video's "lonely and awkward wallflower." After some half-hearted attempts to socialize, she splashes water on her face and makes her way through the party in confident, full-out, body-thrusting moves. Then comes the synchronized swimming and, yes, grinding with Donnie Wahlberg.
"The story of the video is about, it's about someone becoming at peace with their inner beauty," he told on the set of the clip, in which NKOTB play a suited-up house band. "Some people might hear the song and think it's obvious what it might be for the video. Maybe it's about a beautiful girl walking down the runway or a guy stopping and gawking at a beautiful girl, but it's about someone who feels beautiful with who they are and is willing to celebrate that for all the world to see."
He added, "It's about your inner, what is it? Swan! I was about to say goose, your inner goose. Your inner swan!"
"Remix" is the lead single off the group's April 2 album release 10. And the tune, much like the video, is all about the "turn around," the guys explain.
"It's about a turn around," Joey McIntyre said. "Whoever we're talking about is making that turn around. It's the song after someone says 'I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it.' And this is their celebration."
In addition to dropping new music, the group will also hit the road on the Package Tour this May. They'll headline the boy band bonanza, which will include 98 Degrees and Boyz II Men. Fans can unwrap the jaunt beginning May 31 in Uncasville, Connecticut, before it all wraps up on July 13 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
