Nick Cannon 'files for divorce'

Nick Cannon has allegedly filed for divorce from Mariah Carey.

The A-list pair called time on their six-year marriage last summer, with Nick confirming the news in August.

It had recently been speculated that Mariah was keen to give her marriage another go, with divorce plans being out on hold. However, TMZ reports Nick actually filed papers on December 12.

The site outlines how the divorce was addressed a week after Mariah turned up three hours late to tape a segment for the NBC Christmas tree lighting special, because she was apparently on the phone to lawyers drawing up terms of property settlement.

Nick and Mariah have twins Monroe and Moroccan, three, together and reportedly spent the US holiday Thanksgiving together.

There were reports they would also be together on Christmas day, however it's thought Mariah uninvited her ex from the family affair.

Nick, 34, has previously spoken about how he and Mariah have stayed friends, and that will always remain the case.

"We are friends but we will be friends for life," he told BBC Radio 1Xtra host Charlie Sloth.

While it was reported Mariah was desperate for Nick to take her back, it seems Nick has now put an end to that idea. However the 44-year-old singer is busier than ever with work, and her new Vegas residency will no doubt take her mind off of relationship woes.

She's just signed up for a special Las Vegas deal which will see her perform at Caesars Palace from May.

"I'm going to do my first ever residency in Vegas at Caesars. This is a special event for me," Mariah smiled to talk show host Ellen DeGeneres earlier this week. "And again, I have to hope that the fans will enjoy this, 'cause I'm gonna be performing, which was kind of inspired by my album number ones, and this is now the updated version, with 18 of them."
