He might not be as hip as The Velvet Underground, but Nick Drake's just as influential, a truth that will drive an upcoming rarities disc.
June 22, Island Records will release Made to Love Magic a collection of 13 rarities and remixes culled from songs recorded between 1968 and 1974. The compliation's crown jewel is "Tow the Line," a previously unreleased track. Also appearing on the album are album tracks remixed by Drake's original producer John Wood.
Drake died in 1974 of an overdose of antidepressants. His morose songwriting influenced everyone from Belle and Sebastain and Jeff Buckley to Snow Patrol and The Magnetic Fields
