Nick Jonas is going to break it to Demi Lovato that mermaids don't exist.
The musicians are close friends, with Demi previously dating Nick's brother Joe.
They even have similar interests, with both stars fascinated by the supernatural - but there are limits for the handsome star.
"Yeah, she and I have talked about this a lot. I am on board," Nick told talk show host Seth Meyers when he brought up the fact that Demi believes in aliens. "So when I was 14 maybe, I was in my backyard playing basketball with some friends, and I looked up in the sky and there was three flying saucers. This is Hollywood, so everyone was like, 'It's a movie, it's a movie set,' and I was convinced it was real. I looked up online and there was three identical sightings in other states. So I am a firm believer in aliens and extraterrestrial life.
"[But] I think I'm gonna have to talk to [Demi] about that," he laughed when told she thinks mermaids are real.
Seth branded the idea of mermaids bulls**t, joking that if Nick ever saw three mermaids in the sky he should go straight into the studio and write a "sweet groove".
The 22-year-old is enjoying a career high at the moment, with singles Jealous, Chains and Levels all doing well in the charts.
But it's his latest tune Area Code that has got people talking; as many believe it makes reference to his ex Selena Gomez's tune Good For You.
Some of the lyrics read, 'You say I never been good for you / You can't deny I gave it good to you', with many fans speculating it's aimed at Selena. The pair briefly dated in 2008 and sent the rumour mill into a spin earlier this year when spotted out for dinner together, but Nick insists they were simply catching up.
