In this week's Billboard pop shop podcast, Nick Jonas stops by the studio to discuss his solo hit "Jealous," moving on from the Jonas Brothers, finding a mature new sound and those infamous shirtless pics.
On new music:
"One of the biggest things for me is experiencing a song grow, in the way that 'Jealous' has. Seeing people's opinions change of me, or just giving it a shot and then being surprised that they actually like it. Things like that are really meaningful, that you strive for as an artist, and it's been great."
On Jonas Brothers' breakup:
"It has been a huge transition. It's almost been exactly a year since the brothers decided to close that chapter, and it's one of those things where I feel like I had a vision of where I wanted to see [my career] go and knew that it would take some time. I didn't really expect for the tide to turn as quickly as it has, and for us to be in this new chapter. Just loving the ride, and really enjoying every moment. I'm thrilled to get this record out."
On being shirtless in recent photo shoots:
"I gained about 15 pounds of muscle and kept it on, and just went from there. I think that, whatever the drivers were to get people to the music, all that matters to me is that they got there. If it was that shoot or other things, then that's that."
