Nicki Minaj says even though Super Bowl rehearsals with Madonna were "intense", the Queen of Pop wasn't "standing there with a whip".
The rapper and M.I.A joined the 53-year-old songstress at the coveted Super Bowl halftime slot earlier this year, where they took to the stage to perform Give Me All Your Luvin'.
Nicki says Madonna's focused nature naturally rubbed off on her.
"We had a lot of rehearsals — intense rehearsals. It wasn't like she was standing there with a whip but you knew it was going to be her biggest show so I understand she was nervous," she told British newspaper The Sun.
During the high-energy performance, M.I.A caused outrage when she flipped up her middle finger.
Reports claimed Madonna was unhappy with the British artist.
"M.I.A. is very cool, very real, and what you see is what you get. She doesn't bulls**t anyone.
"But no, I didn't know about her flicking the Vs," Nicki said.
"I didn't speak to Madonna about it but I know she wasn't happy."
Nicki deleted her Twitter account last week after getting into a disagreement with a fansite over them allegedly leaking her new songs online.
The 29-year-old star is contemplating whether or not to return to the social networking site. "Reinstate my account? I don't know yet. I have to say, I've been kind of enjoying life without Twitter. But I feel bad on the Barbz [her fans]. They got really sad when I deleted it," she explained.
"I think most artists will experience a lot of negative people on Twitter but, thank God, I've got so many followers that I'm not able to see them that much. I'll see some from time to time but, for the most part, I always focus on something good.
"But the way I deal with it is if I see someone tweet something bad, I'll retweet it and put some lewd thing back."
