On the heels of the critical and commercial smash debut of "The Pinkprint," MTV will once again give viewers a behind-the-scenes, deeply personal window into the world of hip hop titan and GRAMMY®-nominated artist Nicki Minaj in "Nicki Minaj: My Time AGAIN."
The second installment in the network's ongoing Nicki Minaj documentary trilogy, "Nicki Minaj: My Time AGAIN" premieres in the UK on Tuesday 20th January at 9:00pm and across MTV channels globally soon thereafter.
"I'm very thankful to MTV that I get to release a very truthful documentary for my fans surrounding the release of "The PinkPrint." I fully trust them to keep the integrity of my journey while giving such a personal glimpse into my guarded world. Our first movie together, "My Time Now," became an instant classic among my core fans whove been asking us to do it again for years. They will be very pleased with this new installment. I'm very excited about it." – Nicki Minaj
Across its 60-minute runtime, "Nicki Minaj: My Time AGAIN" showcases the superstar at her most raw and uninhibited as she prepares to release her most introspective album to date, "The Pinkprint."
"My Time Again" follows Nicki through the streets of her native Southside Jamaica, Queens, as she recounts memories of growing up in a one-room basement apartment with her family. The documentary picks up with Nicki in the recording studio, capturing her creative genius, her battle to stay at the top of the rap game, and her uncensored perspectives on her contemporaries and the state of hip hop in America. An excerpt of Nicki in her own words from "My Time AGAIN":
"Most people don't rap anymore; most people ain't even trying to spit, they getting by being fraudulent - everybody is getting by not pushing their pen… Do you know how many times I think to myself, why did I just rewrite this verse when everything on the radio is a bunch of wack verses?"
"My Time AGAIN" also provides an unfiltered look at the highs, lows, and crazy in-betweens of superstardom – from the sheer joy of completing the "The Pinkprint," to the end of an 11-year romantic relationship, to her firsthand account of the now infamous snakebite and wardrobe malfunctions episodes surrounding the "2014 MTV Video Music Awards," to her cherished time with her beloved family and friends. Nicki in her own words from "My Time AGAIN":
"What is this all for if this for if I am not with the people that I care about the most?"
Part one of MTV's Nicki Minaj trilogy, "Nicki Minaj: My Time Now" aired in 2010 and followed Nicki's meteoric rise to stardom – with stops in Queens and her native Trinidad – as she prepared to release her debut album, "Pink Friday."
"Nicki Minaj: My Time AGAIN" will also air internationally on MTV channels in 160+ territories (check local listings). The documentary is a continuation of MTV's highly rated, award-winning music documentary series that has given unprecedented looks at superstars including Lady Gaga, Drake, Britney Spears, Demi Lovato, Miley Cyrus and Ed Sheeran.
