The Your Love singer tells the November issue of Cosmopolitan magazine that she thought about ending her life after she kept getting rejected by record companies.
'It was one dead-end after another,' she says. 'At one point, I was like, 'What would happen if I just didn't wake up?' That's how I felt – like maybe I should just take my life.'
The Queens native, who appears on the cover of the women’s magazine wearing a tight leather corset-style dress, says it was her horrible childhood, with a violent substance-abusing father, that made her crave fame and wealth.
'I would pray to God to make me famous, so I could buy my mother a huge house,' she reveals.
But now, following her 2010 debut album Pink Friday’s chart-topping success, the 28-year-old hip-hop star has managed to put her troubled past behind her.
Asked where she thinks she will be in five to 10 years’ time, she says: 'I'll have hundreds of millions of dollars. I will have put out five albums and will have an Oscar and Grammys. And I will be getting married and, a couple of years after that, [I] will have a bun in the oven.'
