November continues to be the month of Nicki Minaj. After giving Barbz an exclusive look into her daily life as a hip-hop empress on the three-episode E! special, "Nicki Minaj: My Truth," Nicki maintains her momentum with the release of her latest single, "High School," featuring Lil Wayne, ahead of next week's release of her new album, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded -- The Re-Up.
On the Lil Tunechi-assisted track, which is one of five new songs on the double-disc re-release, Nicki channels the grittier flow that made her a lyrical standout on Kanye West's "Monster" track from his fifth studio album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.
Nicki lets the world know via the chorus that "this ain't high school" and delivers lines like "this box better than the box he was held in" that signal the sexual braggadocio her rabid fans clamor for. For his part, Wayne shows no lingering signs of weakness from last month's health scare as he spits playfully bawdy lines.
Nicki released the tracklist to Re-Up two weeks ago. The 27-song project includes guest appearances by Cassie, Ciara and Tyga and will also contain a 90-minute DVD featuring behind-the-scenes footage.
The American Idol judge also released the commercial for her new Pink Friday perfume on Friday (November 16). In the 30-second clip, Nicki can be seen lying in a bed of black roses, with her song, "Freedom," playing in the background. After she pricks her finger on one of the rose thorns, a drop of pink blood transforms her surroundings into a kaleidoscope of color and whimsy.
