It looks like Nicki Minaj is creating her own neon world for her "Boys" music video. On Wednesday, the singer gave fans a taste of the candy-coated video with a behind-the-scenes featurette.
In the clip, shot in Los Angeles, the singer struts down a city block in shades of hot pink, green and tangerine, topping off the look with a leopard baseball cap. Men in hot-pink suits holding umbrellas shade her during the stroll, and the scene is set with palm trees and a pink convertible.
As the clip wraps up, Minaj takes in the sights of her fantasy town, which are all references to the MC's various albums and personas.
"Pink Friday's Cotton Candy, I didn't even see that. Cool," she said, referring to one of the awnings in her video world. "Wow! Roman's Ice Cream Parlor. I want to live on this block." There's also a Ken's Barber Shop, a shout-out to her male fans.
The song is the lead single off her sophomore album re-release, Pink Friday Roman Reloaded: The Re-Up, dropping later this fall. As for when it will drop, Minaj simply let fans know that it is coming "soon." While singer Cassie appears on the song, she was nowhere to be seen in the video teaser.
Minaj dropped the teaser clip on her Twitter account, where she has remained focused on communicating with her fans instead of commenting on her heated "American Idol" argument with fellow judge Mariah Carey earlier this week.
While neither Minaj nor Carey have opened up about the headline-making dispute in Charlotte, many others have, including "American Idol" host Ryan Seacrest, Carey's hubby Nick Cannon and, of course, the fans.
