Is Nicki Minaj set to join the "American Idol" team? According to Us Weekly, the answer is yes.
The magazine is reporting that Minaj is close to inking a deal to serve as a judge on the upcoming 12th season of the show, citing a pair of unnamed sources, one of whom says Minaj is "100 percent confirmed." A second source also makes it seem like a deal is imminent, but added, "A few more slight things to sign off on, but it is happening."
In early July, Minaj's name was one of several linked to the show, along with Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry. A rep for Minaj had no comment on the Us report when contacted by MTV News, and a spokesperson for Fox could not be reached for comment by press time.
If the report is true, Minaj will become the second high-profile judge added to "Idol" in the past month. In late July, Mariah Carey confirmed that she'd be joining the show, a move many saw as a response to the hiring of Britney Spears as a judge on "Idol" competitor "The X Factor."
In recent months, "Idol" has reportedly been considering adding the likes of Nick Jonas or Pharrell Williams to the panel in an attempt to reboot the show following the departures of judges Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler. Lone holdover Randy Jackson will reportedly move to a "mentor" role on the upcoming season.
