2013 has been a vintage year for violin virtuoso, Nigel Kennedy. A sell-out tour was met with rave reviews. The Birmingham Mail said it was "Kennedy at his best".
The Times announced he was on "scintillating form". The Guardian praised his "exquisite mix of grace and favour", with the Independent prounouncing that the Last Night Of The Proms had been the best in years "thanks to a resplendent performance ….by the evergreen Nigel Kennedy".
2014 now sees Kennedy present a typically maverick musical programme celebrating the music of Bach as well as other brilliant composers that have influenced him. The 10-date UK tour starts in Weston Super Mare on 25th February, ending at Croydon's Fairfield Hall on 7th March.
The concert takes the listener on a journey which begins with Bach sonatas and partitas for solo violin, after which Kennedy is joined by an acoustic guitarist, a snare drum and a double bass to perform his own arrangements of some of his favourite music. The evening includes works by the violinist himself, including Melody in the Wind, which featured on the Last Night of the Proms.
