Nikki Sixx, bassist for iconic rock band Mötley Crüe, photographed the cover of today's New York Post ALEXA high-end fashion broadsheet.
Sixx, an accomplished photographer, who published This is Gonna Hurt: Photography and Life Through the Distorted Lens of Nikki Sixx, and recently gave a lecture on his photography at the Annenberg Space for Photography in Los Angeles, shot a glam rock, seventies-style fashion spread. The glamorous, high energy photographs, featuring fashion from international designers, were shot in Sixx's studio in L.A.
"As an artist I pride myself on being able to create both inside and outside the box," said Sixx. "When the New York Post asked me to do this photo session, I felt it was such a great opportunity to blend both into the mainstream. I'm grateful that a newspaper with so much history would trust such a valuable asset in the hands of a madman."
"We are honored and excited that Nikki has come on board as our cover photographer," said Alexa editor Serena French. "He's a respected artist, and we are delighted that he agreed to do this shoot. It is a spectacular spread that will become an instant keepsake for our readers, and for Nikki's fans."
The ninth edition of Alexa, free inside the New York Post, is on newsstands today. The entire Sixx cover spread, as well as some additional content, is available online at NYPOST.com/Alexa. NYPOST.com features a video of the photo shoot.
