Top celebrities including Olly Murs, Plan B, Chrissie Hynde and Alan Carr have raided their wardrobes to donate some of their fashion favourites, for an online pop-up shop in aid of Shelter.
Music fans and fashionistas will have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to bid on signature items including an Olly Murs signed trilby hat and Chrissie Hynde's Stella McCartney boots, at an online auction that will open via www.shelter.org.uk/sheltershops from now until 9.00pm Sunday 28 July.
Other celebrity outfits on offer include an Alexander McQueen jacket worn by comedian Alan Carr, fashionista Louise Roe's 2013 Emmy's dress, and a dress worn by former Eastenders actress Jo Joyner in her role as Tanya.
Shelter is urging people to take inspiration from its celebrity supporters and donate their own pre-loved clothes, homeware or books to their nearest Shelter shop, where every penny raised goes towards helping families facing homelessness. The charity has over 100 shops across England selling a range of good quality new and second-hand clothes, books, homeware and household items. To find your nearest shop visit www.shelter.org.uk/sheltershops.
Pop star Olly Murs, who has donated one of his signature trilby hats, said: "I've donated one of my summer trilby hats to Shelter this summer. It's a great charity so get bidding guys!!'
EastEnders actress Jo Joyner who played Tanya in Eastenders, said: "Taking a bag of pre-loved clothes to a Shelter shop is a fantastic way to help a great cause. With homelessness now at a five-year high, Shelter has never needed your support more, so I'm proud to donate my dress. Let the bidding commence!"
Everyone is encouraged to donate to a Shelter shop between Monday 15th and Saturday 27th July and enter a free prize draw to win one of five Fujitsu tablet PCs. The charity has also recently launched a new donation loyalty card. Each donation of stock will be rewarded with a stamp, with those collecting five stamps being rewarded with a £5 discount to spend in store.
Campbell Robb, Shelter's Chief Executive, said: "It's fantastic that so many of Britain's best-loved stars have donated these exclusive items from their wardrobes to support families at risk of losing their home.
"We're hoping that people across the country will follow suit and give some of their own pre-loved clothes to our shops so that we can help more people who need us.
"Unlike our famous friends, your donations don't have to include a designer label. Whether they're as good as new or have seen better days - all donations are welcome! There's no easier way to help the families across England who are facing homelessness or living in bad housing."
