Oh, come on. You didn't really expect Paul McCartney to do anything weird at the Super Bowl, did you? He did take off clothes at one point -- he removed his jacket. McCartney performed "Drive My Car," "Get Back," and "Live and Let Die." His finale was "Hey Jude," as the crowd on the field waved lights and the crowd in the stands spelled out "Na Na Na Na" with cards.
The pre-game entertainment was a mix of hip-hop and country. Gretchen Wilson and Charlie Daniels warmed up the crowd, followed by the Black Eyed Peas. Singer Will.I.Am changed the lyrics of "Where Is the Love" to reflect a Super Bowl theme. He sang about overseas football but "we love our American football," mentioned the Patriots and the Eagles and added, "I kinda wish that the Raiders went to L-A." Daniels must have been feeling the love, because he put his cowboy hat on Will.I.Am's head. Alicia Keys sang "America The Beautiful" with a recording of Ray Charles. She was accompanied by students from Charles' alma mater, the Florida School for the Deaf and The Blind, who sang and signed the song in sign language. That tender moment took an unexpected twist, when the announcer made a plug for Charles' last album and the soundtrack to the movie "Ray."
