Sir Paul McCartney will open and close Britain's Queen Elizabeth's official Diamond Jubilee concert.
The legendary musician has reportedly been convinced by event organiser Gary Barlow to headline at the prestigious music concert marking the 60th anniversary of the accession of the reigning monarch.
According to a source, Gary was left delighted yesterday after Paul agreed to the show after a year of persuasion.
"He laid it on thick, telling him he was the only man for the job," an insider told British newspaper The Sun.
Also set to perform at the extravaganza at Buckingham Palace in June are Sir Tom Jones, Dame Shirley Bassey and Jessie J.
Britain's Queen Elizabeth celebrated her accession to the throne yesterday with a tour of a village school in Norfolk, England. She broke with tradition as she usually spends Accession Day privately at her Sandringham estate.
The queen's celebration will centre around an extended extravaganza on the weekend of 2-5 June 2012.
