Overview
Abdul, who was confirmed as a judge last week, was flying to Singapore when news broke that Cole had been dumped from the US version of the talent contest.
And she admitted to reporters at a press conference that she didn't know what was happening.
When asked about Cole leaving the show, Abdul responded: 'This apparently has captured the news while I was travelling so I'm just finding out things as you are.”
There has been no official comment from Simon Cowell or Fox TV on Cole’s departure but according to several reports she has been replaced on the show by Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger, who was set to host alongside Steve Jones.
Reports claim Cole was axed because producers feared her Geordie accent would be unintelligible to American viewers.
