Peaches Geldof believes her late mother Paula Yates was watching over her as she married Thomas Cohen last weekend.
Peaches Geldof says her late mother was watching over her as she got married.
The socialite tied the knot with musician Thomas Cohen on Saturday (08.09.12) and she is convinced she felt the presence of her mother Paula Yates - who died in 2000 of a drug overdose - at St Mary Magdalene and St Lawrence Church in Davington, Kent, South East England.
She told HELLO! magazine: "I feel her presence all the time but especially today.
"Mum loved family celebrations and she would adore Tom and the fact that we've married here.
"I know that she is watching over me and feeling so happy for us."
The church holds special significance for Peaches, 23, as it was where her mother and her father, Bob Geldof, had their wedding blessed after earlier marrying in Las Vegas in 1986. It is also where Paula's funeral was held in 2000.
She said: "This place holds so many wonderful memories for me. There is a lot of sentimentality attached to it. It's so beautiful and quaint, it's perfect for the quirky, chilled-out country wedding Tom and I wanted."
Peaches wore three custom made dresses throughout her wedding day, and had seven bridesmaids, including her sisters Fifi, 29, Pixie, 21, and Tiger, 16, as well as Thomas' sister Holly.
The bride and groom also had a blue-and cream-iced wedding cake, which had a number of edible pig characters on it, depicting the story of their romance.
Explaining the significance of the pigs, Peaches said: "I am obsessed with pigs - I just think they're adorable so they had to play a part in the wedding."
The happy couple also had a special place in their ceremony for their pet golden retriever dog, Parper, who wore a wreath and acted as ring bearer.
