Neil Tennant has become the latest pop star to speak out about this summer's Live Earth concerts.

The Pet Shop Boys singer has admitted he feels "uneasy" about the climate change awareness gigs, which take place across the globe in July.

He has also hit out at Bono, who is not involved in Al Gore's anti-global warming campaign, for his high-profile role in similar political activism.

Speaking about one of this summer's other high-profile Wembley gigs, Tennant said: "The Princess Diana concert is fair enough, but I feel more uneasy about the Al Gore thing.

"I've always been against the idea of rock stars lecturing people as if they know something the rest of us don't - it looks arrogant.

"It's not as if they have a private source of information. To state the obvious as if you are the only person that knows it is intellectually weak."

Moving onto the U2 frontman, Tennant continued: "Bono uses his celebrity, but in doing so he increases his celebrity.
