Pete Townshend is taking offense at Michael Moore blasting him for not letting Moore use the song "Won't Get Fooled Again" in the film "Fahrenheit 911."
Townshend writes on his Web site Moore has been saying that Townshend refused to let Moore use the song because Townshend supports the war in Iraq.
Townshend admits at the beginning of the war, he was a supporter, but now he's not so sure. He says Moore approached his publisher about using the song but the minimum price for using it was not met. He says there were some back-and-forth negotiations, and Townshend asked to see the film first because he was worried about its accuracy. Townshend says he never did get a copy. He says once he found out what the film was about, he was "90 percent certain" his song was not right for it.
Townshend says he still has not seen the film. He says he has nothing against Moore personally, but he resents "being bullied and slurred by him in interviews" because Moore didn't get what he wanted. Moore was unavailable for comment.
