A group calling itself Protect Our Children has been putting up posters and handing out leaflets to warn people that "sex offender" Pete Townshend is coming to Miami.
The Who will perform at the Super Bowl on February 7.
Local residents have been protesting the arrival of the classic rock band because of a 2003 incident when The Who founder was cautioned by Police for accessing a website featuring child pornography.
Townshend claimed he was doing research for his own campaign to combat child porn but police warned it was still an offence. He was found to be innocent of having any illegal images on his computer and was cautioned but not charged.
The Miami Protect Our Children group state on their leaflet "Townshend is not a fugitive. He will be at large in Miami on February 7th when he arrives to perform at the Super Bowl with his musical group known as The Who. He is not expected to establish residence in this country. This is a community notification distributed in the interest of public safety".
