Peter Doherty has announced a special show at Manchester's Academy as part of the O2 Wireless Weekenders on Saturday 17th May. This will be Peter's first solo regional show.
Following the release of second album, 'Shotter's Nation', in October of 2007, Babyshambles found themselves, once again, high on critics radars. A stunning return to form, the album produced hit singles, 'Delivery' and 'You Talk' and re-established Doherty as one of the UK's most vital, if controversial, songwriters. His solo shows are the stuff of legend, giving fans the chance to hear alternative takes on his well known Babyshambles and Libertines songs alongside unrecorded tracks.
Following successful years in London and Leeds, the O2 Wireless Festival is currently touring five UK cities throughout May with the O2 Wireless Weekenders. Combining some of the hottest established and up-and-coming acts with workshops from experts on how to succeed in the music industry, the O2 Wireless Weekenders are set to be a jammed packed weekend of musical entertainment.
Having started in Newcastle, Glasgow, Manchester, Birmingham and Bristol will be the further stops for the O2 Wireless Weekenders featuring Young Knives, The Rascals, Scouting For Girls, Does It Offend You Yeah, Dan Le sac Vs Scroobius Pip in addition to, We Are Scientists, Reverend and the Makers, Audio Bullys, The Dykeenies and Sam Sparro. .
Launched in addition to the O2 Wireless Festival which is set to rock London's Hyde Park in early July, The O2 Wireless Weekenders will bring three acts to a different city each weekend during May, each playing at some of the best venues and celebrating regional music. The O2 Wireless Weekenders featured artists represent some of the most exciting talent in the current music scene.
Tickets for the show are on sale from Friday 9th May at 9am, priced £17.50 (Subject to booking fee) and are available via http://www.o2wirelessfestival.co.uk/weekender/index.aspx or by calling 0844 815 0815.
