Peter Murphy of Bauhaus has been handed a sentence of three years probation, 45 days of Narcotics Anonymous and ten days of community service for his arrest earlier this year.
Last March, Murphy was arrested in Glendale, CA after driving his manager's Subaru Forester into another car and then driving away. A witness followed Murphy and blocked him from continuing until police arrived. Officers reported that the singer was confused and didn't know the time or day.
Murphy was charged with misdemeanor hit-and-run, to which he pled no contest, and possession of methamphetamine, to which he pled guilty. A charge of driving under the influence of drugs was dropped in a deal with prosecutors.
If Murphy completes his sentence and is clean in three random drug tests, the charges for the drug possession will be removed from his record.
Murphy, who lives in Turkey, is currently touring with Bauhaus for the band's 35th anniversary.
