The Phil Spector murder case took another dramatic turn as the former lawyer for mob boss John Gotti took the reigns of the producer's defense.
Spector, on bail awaiting trial for an alleged Feb. 3, 2003 murder (read full story), replaced lawyer Leslie Abramsonwith Bruce Cutler. It's the second time Spector's replaced his counsel since the start of the investigation. Ambramson replaced Robert Shapiro in February (read Aversion's review).
Cutler successfully defended mob boss John Gotti in the '90s until he was disqualified from the defense team for discussing other cases with Gotti.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 20. Cutler looks to postpone it in order to have time to immerse himself in the case.
