Phil Spector has never discussed the night he murdered Lana Clarkson with his wife.
Rachelle Short – who married the music producer in 2006, three years after Clarkson was killed – claims she has never asked her husband about the incident, even after he was convicted of second degree murder earlier this year.
The 29-year-old aspiring actress told Now magazine: "I know it's hard to believe but Phil and I haven't spoken about that night. Having sat through two trials, I feel I know what happened.
"During the case, there were reports of him having pulled guns on people before but I've never felt unsafe with him and I don't believe the stories."
Lana was found dead in the lobby of Phil's mansion in Alhambra, California, in February 2003. She had been shot in the mouth.
Phil, 69, was initially tried for murder in 2007, but it ended in a mistrial. The retrial began in October 2008 and the jury returned a guilty verdict in April 2009.
He was formally sentenced to 19 years to life in May and is currently serving his sentence in California Substance Abuse Treatment Facility and State Prison in Corcoran.
He will be 88 years old before he is eligible for parole.
Rachelle is finding it difficult to be apart from her husband, who has compared jail to a "snake pit".
She said: "Living alone is depressing without Phil. Although I live in the house Lana died in, it's still our home and a tragic accident doesn't change that.
"We even got married in the lobby where it happened, but I didn't even think about it on our wedding day and there are no bad vibes in the house for me."
