Now that America is adjusting to the idea that they failed to vote onetime "American Idol" favorite Pia Toscano through to the next round of competition, it's time to figure out what the lovely balladeer will do next.
MTV News' intrepid "Idol" expert Jim Cantiello was lucky enough to steal a few minutes with Toscano on Monday afternoon (April 11), when he tried to get the scoop on the singer's next move, namely, what's with all the talk about signing with a label?
"I've been so busy that I haven't met with anybody right now," Toscano said. "Seriously," she added. "I'm looking forward to any opportunities that are to come but I'm really just focused on the [upcoming 'Idol'] tour right now and getting some much needed rest that I haven't gotten."
So there is nothing to report about the rumors that she's close to signing with Interscope? "I really don't — I don't know yet what's going on with that," Toscano answered vaguely. "Hopefully, good things."
Regarding future work and collaborations, Toscano did open up a bit about who she wants to work with, in addition to possibly re-teaming with her "Idol" producer mentors sometime soon.
"I've pretty much covered a lot ... Rodney Jerkins was my dream. Harvey Mason Jr., amazing. Ron Fair is incredible, and those were the three producers I've always wanted to work with, that I've always dreamed of," she gushed. "And this made it all possible. I definitely want to work with Ryan Tedder, Evan Bogart," she added.
Toscano went on to say that she'd also be "totally" into doing a few duets. "I would love to do a duet with Alicia Keys, Christina [Aguilera], people that I've looked up to," she said. "Jay-Z would be cool."
We brought up another person who would be "cool" for her to collaborate with: "Dancing With the Stars" pro Mark Ballas, who has been rumored to be Toscano's new love interest.
"Ha, totally," Toscano agreed. "Mark is very, very talented, so it could happen."
