Charlie Gilmour, the son of Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour, has been jailed for 16-months after attacking the car of Prince Charles while high on drugs.
21-year old Gilmour jumped on the bonnet of the Jaguar carrying Prince Charles and his wife Camilla after the Prince and Duchess were leaving a Royal Command Performance.
Gilmour was protesting new legislation over student fees. He threw a bin at the car while drugged out on LSD and Valium.
The judge chastised young Gilmour mentioning his family background and stating that he should have known better because of his upbringing.
David Gilmour and wife Polly were present in court when the verdict was announced. Polly is Charlie's biological mother. David adopted him when the couple married.
Charlie showed no emotion when the sentence was handed down. With good behavior, he could be released in 8-months.
