UK hip-hop turned soul singer Plan B has landed a record number of nominations at this year's UK Music Video Awards, with videos for Cheryl Cole, Florence and the Machine, Hot Chip, Lady Gaga, Laura Marling, Jay-Z and Massive Attack also gaining multiple nods.
Nominations for the UK Music Video Awards 2010 ' aka the MVAs ' have just been announced, with three videos from Plan B's hit album The Defamation of Strickland Banks taking a hugely impressive 11 nominations at the big awards event of the year which celebrates creative excellence in British music videos.
Two of the Plan B videos, for Stay Too Long and Prayin' ' both directed by Daniel Wolfe ' have five nominations each, making them the most nominated videos ever at the MVAs.
Cheryl Cole has four nominations at the awards for her videos for Parachute, directed by AlexandLiane, and 3 Words, directed by Saam Farahmand, while Jay-Z has three nominations for the video for On To The Next One, directed by Sam Brown. Kanye West's video for Power by video artist Marco Brambilla has three nominations, while Hot Chip's I Feel Better ' directed by comedian Peter Serafinowicz ' and Florence And The Machine's Dog Days Are Over have two nominations each.
Now in its third year, the MVAs celebrates the very best work in British and international music videos ' honouring the people who make them from well-established directors to up-and-coming directing stars of the future, as well as the cream of the talent making videos behind the camera, from DoPs to editors to stylists and visual effects artists with a range of over 20 awards.
The UK Music Video Awards will be held at the ODEON West End in Leicester Square, London on Tuesday October 12th.
