How to know when you're talking to an Australian:
* Funny accent;
* The use of profanity is something to truly marvel at;
* The idea of punching someone in the face and/or getting punched in the face is something that's considered a good time.
"It's hard to describe but punching your mate in the face can be pretty funny," says Powderfinger's Jon Coghill, who more than satisfies all of the criteria. "If you don't really (expletive) wallop him or anything like that, but if you connect, it inspires people to punch back."
The latest such incident was a recent European trek for the Brisbane rock veterans, which saw them gleefully fist-fighting in a plush restaurant in Barcelona.
"You're sitting around eating tapas -- this (expletive) amazing exotic food that you've never (expletive) seen before -- and you're drinking beer and having the best time and someone punches you in the face," the drummer says. "And you can't get angry about it."
