The current run of Barclaycard Mercury Prize Sessions will continue at The Hospital Club on Thursday 25 April with special live performances from the legendary Primal Scream and the innovative electro-pop duo AlunaGeorge.
Suede kicked off gig series last month, sharing the bill with indie hot property Palma Violets. The following weeks have seen stunning performances from Johnny Marr and Tom Odell - as well as Bastille and Laura Mvula, who took to the Sessions stage on Wednesday (10 April).
Winners of the inaugural Mercury Prize for Album of the Year in 1992, Primal Scream will play the Sessions ahead of the release of their eagerly anticipated tenth studio album, 'More Light', in May. 2013 has already brought success for AlunaGeorge – the duo scoring a hit with Disclosure in February and more recently with single 'Attracting Flies'.
The Sessions are an exclusive series of gigs that the Barclaycard Mercury Prize has established to celebrate live music in the UK and are separate from the Barclaycard Mercury Prize 'Albums of the Year'. Featuring a range of new and established artists from both the UK and overseas, the Sessions are filmed in front of an audience of around 250 music fans at The Hospital Club in Covent Garden. Tickets to the events are available to music fans through competitions. More details can be found at www.mercuryprize.com.
Fans who are not able to attend the gigs will be able to watch tracks from the Sessions on television and online, as each featured artist will be the subject of a dedicated programme to be broadcast on Channel 4 over the coming months. Further tracks will be available to watch online at www.mercuryprize.com/sessions.
