Queens Of The Stoneage finally play London

Queens Of The Stoneage finally made it onto a London stage last night (August 22) on their third attempt.

The band had yet to play songs from current album 'Lullabies To Paralyse' on live in the UK capital after frontman Josh Homme was taken ill before the first attempt, and the rescheduled dates were thwarted by the London bombings. The only British show they had played since the LP's release before last night was at T In The Park in Scotland on July 10.

Beginning their two-night stand in the city at Brixton Academy, the band played for over two hours, delighting fans with both hits, obscure album tracks and cuts from the Desert Sessions.

The band had planned to give a rare 7” to fans at the cancelled July 7 Somerset House show who had carried over tickets for the original Underworld date in March. Before playing 'The Fun Machine Took A Shit And Died', Homme told the audience that there would be more gifts.

He said: "Anyone who had a ticket carried over, we're sending you a bottle to your house. And this is the song that was going to be on the vinyl."

After crooning 'I Never Came' without a guitar, Josh threw a microphone stand into the crowd.
