Cher has started recording her next album and started with the song The Greatest Thing, written by Lady Gaga and RedOne. She said on Twitter last night "Just walked in from studio! Finished 1st track on new cd &......."GAGA" YOU ARE THE GREATEST THING TO ME."
Among the veteran artists receiving Emmy Nominations today, Harry Connick, Jr. for Music Direction of his In Concert on Broadway, Walter Murphy (A Fifth of Beethoven) for Music Composition on the series Family Guy and David Foster for Music Direction of his Hitman Returns: David Foster and Friends.
The voice of Elton John woke up the astronauts on the space shuttle on Wednesday, first with the song Rocket Man and then with Elton's voice saying "Good morning, Atlantis, this is Elton John. We wish you much success on your mission and a huge thank you to all the men and women at NASA who worked on the shuttle for the last three decades."
The eighth season of That Metal Show will premier on VH1 Classic Saturday, August 20. Among the guests this season will be Lars Ulrich (Metallica), Sammy Hagar, Rick Nielsen (Cheap Trick), Scott Ian (Anthrax), Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine), Tony Iommi (Black Sabbath) and Brad Gillis (Night Ranger).
New information has come out on the Scorpions' documentary. Big City Nights: The Scorpions Story won't be released until 2013 and will be directed by Katja von Garnier. A trailer for the film has been posted at www.dw-world.de/scorpions/en/.
Loretta Lynn has been forced to cancel out of the Jamboree in the Hills Festival, being held this weekend in Belmont, OH. She was recently hospitalized for dehydration after a period of extreme heat in Tennessee.
Ron Wood and Keith Richards are reportedly meeting this week over plans to recreate the Rolling Stones' historic 1969 show in Hyde Park, London. Wood said "We'll try to recapture the old camaraderie. I know Keith is fully supportive, as are the rest of the boys in the Stones. We'll see what we can do as a unit. Playing Hyde Park would be fabulous."
Canada's Triumph were honored with the naming of a street after the group in their hometown of Mississauga, Ontario. Triumph Lane encircles a recently built development. Ric Emmett, Mike Levine and Gil More were scheduled to be on-hand for the ceremony and to meet fans.
