Morrissey is suing Britain's NME over a 2007 interview which he says portrayed him as a racist. At the time, the singer complained about the surge of immigrants in his country and the loss of "British identity." According to the filing "Question marks over my being a racist have never since receded."
One of Britain's senior libel judges is currently in the process of deciding whether the suit can go to trial. A decision is expected in the next week.
Bette Midler is selling a collection of her costumes, jewelry and other belongings from throughout her four-decade career on November 12 in Beverly Hills. All proceeds will go to her New York Restoration Project which helps renew public spaces in New York.
The Bruce Springsteen archive will be getting a new home at Monmouth University in New Jersey. Included in the archives, formerly at the Asbury Park Public Library, is almost 15,000 items including books, programs, articles and other memorabilia.
Christopher Phillips, the editor of Backstreets magazine, gives a big thumbs up to the new arrangement. "At the university, the collection will be publicly accessible to all who have a serious interest in Bruce Springsteen's life and career."

The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that HBO is highly interested in a new series with a script by Terence Winter (Boardwalk Empire) and a number of big names in production including Martin Scorsese and Mick Jagger.
The series would reportedly be "the exploits of a cocaine-fueled record executive in New York City circa 1977, when punk, disco and a new form of music called hip-hop collided."
