Brooklyn's Radio 4 kick-off autumn with a new single â€" the urgent stomp of ‘State of Alert', which is due for release on November 15th by City Slang, taken from their acclaimed new album Stealing of a Nation â€" and a November run of UK shows.
The band has donated a download of ‘State of Alert' to http://mustvote.com a US site dedicated to encouraging young people to register to vote. As MustVote explains: “Driving voters through our site will increase voter awareness, volunteerism, and participation among eligible voters 18-35… Allowing music to act as the catalyst to voter engagements also helps to target groups of typically disenfranchised voters.â€
Radio 4 made waves in Boston performing during the National Democratic Convention week in July, where the band played a packed benefit for the Music For America a non-profit organization that encourages political involvement and helps music fans register to vote. “For us, music is about sound and sentiment†singer Anthony Roman told The Independent, “We want to spread awareness and inspire dialogue."
Radio 4 were recent live guests on the influential Late Night with Conan O'Brien show, and are currently on the road in the US with The Libertines from September 28 â€" October 23 for undoubtedly the hottest double bill of the season.
Meanwhile, in the UK Radio 4 have been recruiting fans at radio, where their current single ‘Absolute Affirmation' garnered daytime Radio 1 spins from Edith & Colin and the video enjoyed considerable MTV coverage. The stars have been coming out to play, with members of Franz Ferdinand, QOTSA, Tim Burgess, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Strokes, Har Mar Superstar… all turning up to see the band at recent gigs.
The new single ‘State of Alert', released on fan-friendly Limited Edition 7â€, is backed by a phenomenal live versions of ‘Pipe Bombs' and ‘Struggle'.
Radio 4 continue to spread the message in November with a number of live dates, with support from fellow NYC band, French Kicks (who have an album, The Trial of The Century out now through Eat Sleep).
