A son of the late US soul singer Ray Charles launched a suit against his father's former manager for 10 million dollars in damages, alleging the man cheated him out of family company shares.
Ray Charles Robinson Jr. filed the suit Friday at a Los Angeles court against Joe Adams, who was his father's manager for 45 years and was named by the singer in his will as executor of his estate, according to court papers.
Robinson alleges that Adams coerced him into giving up his shares in a family-owned production company after the singer's death and that the manager wanted to control of the company to profit from Ray Charles' name himself.
Robinson says he himself was not in a state to make the agreement since he was having drug problems.
