Red Hot Chili Peppers have again confirmed they are taking a two year break.
Bassist Flea stated that the band are taking the break to recover from a hectic touring schedule following their last record, Stadium Arcadium.
The time off will also give Flea a chance to concentrate on his studies after enrolling at the University of Southern California on a music programme.
He told the Los Angeles Times: "We needed to get away from it and get a fresh perspective on things."
Talking about his return to school, he added: "I played trumpet in the school band, learned things I liked to play on my trumpet but I didn't learn why this note goes with this note and why it produces that sound.
"Knowing the structure is really fun."
