Speaking ahead of the music event, the Grammy award-winning rock band said they are “really looking forward” to returning to the Irish city.
The US group said in a statement: 'We haven't played in Belfast in a long time, so we're really looking forward to performing at the 2011 MTV EMA and seeing all our fans!'
They will be joined on the night by EMA host Selena Gomez.
The list of stars attending the prestigious event is being kept under wraps for the time being, but leading nominees include Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, and Bruno Mars.
It has also been revealed that the awards will be presented from three different locations across Belfast, with the Odyssey Arena serving as the main stage, and two other locations in the city being used to simultaneously host the ceremony.
The show will be broadcast live on 6 November.
