Richard Thompson solo tour

Richard Thompson is to play his biggest UK solo tour for a number of years commencing on May 15th at the recently reopened Hackney Empire Theatre in London.

As a solo performer, Richard Thompson is second to none in his ability to enthral audiences with compelling performances that are both heartfelt and entertaining coupled with guitar playing that has to be witnessed to be believed.

Richard Thompson released the highly acclaimed, 'The Old Kit Bag' for Cooking Vinyl in the UK last February and toured with a full band the following month. He then played a number of major festivals in the summer, and rounded off a highly successful year with two sold out shows at Sadler's Wells Theatre in London where he presented the marvellously innovative '1000 Years Of Popular Music'.

Support on all dates comes from Jim Moray, a startling young talent, recently awarded both the Album Of The Year and The Horizon Award at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards. His original approach to traditional folk music on his debut lp, 'Sweet England' is, for many observers and critics, to the new millennium what Richard Thompson was to the 60's and 70's, an originality in his songwriting and performance that Richard has maintained to this day.
