Rick Ross has denied reports that he called off a recent gig because of an angry mob led by a local rapper who was unhappy Ross was on his turf.
The rapper was set to perform at the Summer Jamz gig in Detroit, Michigan, but called off the show after he was reportedly met by a "human blockade". The director of the radio station who organised the concert told the crowd Ross was "fearing for his life" after catching wind of the angry mob.
Later reports suggested Detroit rapper Trick Trick was responsible for the incident, with the rapper's manager telling news outlet MLive he had organised the blockade in response to Ross not "checking in" with him before performing in the city.
Now, however, Ross has told reliable news source TMZ that the reason he pulled out of the appearance was because he er, couldn't get into the venue as the gate was "locked". "Someone is deceiving the city of Detroit like Kwame Kilpatrick did," he said, referring to the former mayor of the city, who was often described as corrupt.
Ross' latest album, Mastermind, was released in March.
