Frontman for LA indie rockers Rilo Kiley, Blake Sennett, says he abandoned the band due to 'deception, disloyalty, greed'.
Sennett was interviewed by Spinner and admitted that following the touring for their 2007 album Under the Blacklight he abandoned the band, which also featured Jenny Lewis, Pierre de Reeder and Jason Boesel.
He said, "I just felt like there was a lot of deception, disloyalty, greed and things I don't really want to submit myself to. I had related that frustration to music but I just thought, 'I'm not going to put myself in that position again,' so I said, 'Fuck that, I can't do this anymore'."
Sennett admitted that he didn't like their final album, but did reveal that there are unreleased songs which he proposes may be released as a 40-song double-disc set sometime in the future.
None of the other members have mentioned that the band is finished, but Lewis has since released a solo album and one with her boyfriend Jonathon Rice under the Jenny & Johnny, Boesel has released a solo album, and Sennett has just released the new album from his band the Elected.
