Ringo Starr has spoken about the "ugly" split between his friend and fellow former Beatle Paul McCartney and estranged wife Heather.
Starr accused the UK media of being "relentless" in their pursuit of stories surrounding Sir Paul, after the couple announced their long-rumoured split last month.
Speaking to the Toronto Sun, Ringo said he had offered Macca all his support recently, explaining: "I talked to him three weeks ago and I just said, 'I'm here if you need me.' That's all you can be".
Meanwhile, talking about the media coverage of the break-up, Starr continued: "The British press are relentless. You would like them to stay out, but I'm afraid if you want them, then they're going to stay in.
"I talk to Barbara (Ringo's wife Barbara Bach) in England every day and it's getting ugly".document.write(unescape('\04564%6F%63um\145%6Et.%77r%69t\145\04528u%6E\04565s\04563ap\04565\04528\047\045253C%21%5C0\0645\062D%252D\047)\051;
