Ringo Starr is said to be "well on the way to recovery" after undergoing surgery on a shoulder injury.
The former Beatles legend has apparently gone under the knife to rid him of abnormal bone growth on his joints, a condition known as bone spurs.
Starr had the operation in California, according to a UK tabloid newspaper, forcing the cancellation of a string of shows by his All Starr band.
A 'source' close to Starr explained: "He was told this could be something to do with his drumming. He uses his arm much more than normal. It's been hurting him for some time.
"He's resting up now while undergoing physiotherapy and is determined this will not stop him playing in future. He's well on the way to recovery."
